My Great Future Plans

Actually, I have some dreams in my life, but I’d like to tell you two of my dreams. First, I would like to be a great English teacher or lecturer and the second I would like to be a great wife and mother.
Being a great English teacher, I will study hard to graduate from Sanata Dharma University. I won’t waste my time; I also have to study hard to achieve my first dream. However, it will become very difficult for me because there will be many temptations to achieve my dream, such as when my friend invite me to hang out, when I am very lazy to study, when I don’t want to do my assignment, etc. There are so many temptations for me. However, I want to try my best to do them all.

My second great dream is being a great wife and a great mother. It is also very hard for me. I have to achieve my first dream first, before I achieve my second great dream. However, being a great wife and a great mother are very difficult. I have to have a capability to manage my time. So, I will practice it from now, so that it can help me in the future. I will start practicing with how to manage my time to study, to do assignments, to hang out with my friends, etc. Even, it is difficult; I have to try it to help me being a great wife for my husband and a great mother for my children.

By doing this, I believe I can make my dreams coming true.

Past Narrative

Shocking Days

This story is one of my shocking stories. It happened some months earlier. The story began when my friends and I had got an assignment from our lecturer to make a presentation. In Counseling and Guidance Course, the students had been divided into some group ad each group got a theme.

Actually, we had much time to make the presentation, but we didn’t use the time effectively. My friends and I made it a day before the presentation. We thought that the time was enough to make them all, but we were wrong. The time was not enough and we weren’t able to finish the assignment. We had just realized that we hadn’t had more sources and we only had had a handout. It was not enough. However, we tried to relax because one of my friends had said, “I have just remembered that only some presenters who will present their presentation at random.”

The deadline of our presentation came. We were very nervous because we didn’t have any preparation for our presentation. The class began at 9.00 A.M, and we entered the class. We were able to control the situation for a while before our lecturer called one of member of each group to take a number to be the presenters that day. One of my friends came in front and took one. He got a blank paper; it meant that we were not one of the presenters that day. We were very happy, but the lecturer said, “We have to repeat once more, because there are some students are dishonest.” We were disappointed. We thought that we weren’t able to be lucky anymore. However, we couldn’t do anything to refuse it. My friend came in front once more and took one. “Oh my God…we get a blank paper again”, said one of my friends. We were so happy, but some seconds later the lecturer said us to repeat again. We were very desperate; my friend who took the number was also more desperate. Finally, we were not lucky anymore. We became the last presenter that day.

We were panicky, because we didn’t have the power point and the report. We had to take them in. Finally, we were making it while the others were presenting their presentations. When we wanted to start making it, the laptop was low battery. It made us more panicky. We charged it and started to make it. We made it in a hurry; we didn’t care about the content. We also didn’t care about the presenters who presented their presentation. After finishing, we printed them out without permission from the lecturer. While the lecturer was paying attention with the presenters, we were opening the door and printing them out at SAC (Self-Access Center).

When one of my friends and I printed them out, suddenly my friend sent a message. He said that “We must present our presentation now!” My friend and I were very panicky. We run into the class and brought the prints. After we arrived in the class; the lecturer came in front and said “The time is up, so the next presenter will present their presentation next week.” Then I said “Oh my God…what happen today?”
The news made us happy but also disappointed, because we had finished the report and the power point, although the result was not maximal, but we had to present our presentation next week. However, It didn’t matter for us, because the important thing is, we promise to ourselves that we won’t repeat it again; we will do any assignment long day before the deadline.

Habitual Narrative

Habitual Activity in Monday

Every day in Monday is the laziest day, because I have to start my study after weekend. In every weekend, I usually wake up at 9 A.M, and then I loaf in my bedroom in my boarding house. However, in Monday I have to wake up earlier than before, I also have to start my study and given many assignment from my lecturers. It is very hard for me. That’s why it is the laziest day for me.

However, I can’t do anything; I must get up at 7.45 A.M to start my first day. After getting up, I usually tidy my bedroom up, like fold my blanket, sweep the floor and open the window. After finishing them, I prepare myself to go to the campus. Firstly, I take a bath, and then dry my body up with a towel. After that, I put my clothes on and give some make-up on my face. I put a pair of shoes on and go to campus, but I don’t forget to bring my bag.

I have two courses in Monday; they are Intensive Reading 2 and Structure 2. Class of Intensive Reading 2 begins at 9 A.M, and the lecturer is Ms. Pat. Sometimes, some of the students are sleepy, but Ms. Pat is very kind so it doesn’t matter for us, but we have to pay attention in the course. After I finish with my first course, I take a rest for a while because we still have a few minutes left for the next course. Structure 2 begins at 11 A.M, and the lecturer is Ms. Frida. It is harder than the first course because it will be held in about two hours and a half. In the middle of the course, sometimes my stomach is rumbling because I haven’t got my breakfast. The class is over at 1.30 P.M, and after that I usually have lunch with my friends.

I usually arrive at my boarding house at 3.30 P.M. I take off my shoes and take my bag on the table. And then also take off my clothes and change them with other clothes. After that, I usually turn on my television, watch it for a while then take a nap. Before taking a nap, I usually wash my hands and also my feet.

I usually get up at 5.30 P.M, then I tidy my bedroom again and after that I take a bath. The next activity is refreshing me. I usually refresh myself with doing some simple activities like watching television, sharing with my friends or calling my mother, my father, my sisters or my boyfriends (sometimes). If there are a lot of assignments, I will do them. At about 8.00 P.M, I usually have my dinner with my friends. Sometimes, after having my dinner, I will continue doing my assignments but I usually gather with my friends and share whatever we want to share. And finally, I go to bed at 10 P.M.
It is my habitual activity in Monday. What about you? Would you share with me?

^…Describing Process…^

This is my fifth post and still about describing, but now, I am going to describe a process of making food.
I think this is a delicious food, so I chose it to be described. Many people love this food, especially children, because it is quite delicious and easy to make it.
Let me tell you a process to make a potato doughnut.

First of all, we have to prepare the ingredients to make the potato doughnut, like high protein flour, milk powder, instant yeast, potato, caster sugar, butter, salt, egg yolk, and lukewarm water.
After preparing the ingredients, we have to process the potato. Firstly, the potato is steamed and mashed. Then, we let it cool and it is ready to be processed.
The second step is mixing together the flour, sugar, milk powder, and yeast until the batter is mixed. After mixing, the batter will be added with mashed potato, then egg and water. Next, we will mix or rub with our hand until become dough.
Later, the butter and the salt are added, and then mix them until become elastic and soft dough. We will leave it aside to rest until the dough rises.
Before frying, the oil is heated in a pan first and the dough is molded. We usually mold the dough resembling a wheel. And then, we fry it until it becomes light brown.
And the last, the doughnut is coated with icing sugar and it is ready to be served.

It is not enough if we only eat a potato doughnut without a cup of tea, because tea is a great beverage and it is quick, simple to make it. So, I am going to describe a process of making a cup of tea, too.

Firstly, we usually boil fresh water in a kettle. After boiling, the boiled water is poured into the cups. Next, the tea is put in the cup. And then, we will wait for a while for the tea to brew. Finally, some sugar, honey or lemon is added to make the tea is more delicious.

Describing People...

It is my fourth post and I feel confused how to begin describing people, because I have written three articles about describing something so far. Last time, I wrote about describing myself, describing my favorite thing and describing my favorite place; and now I am describing about my favorite lecturer. Each of them has a different topic, but they discuss the same thing. I hope next week I won’t to describe something. :-)

I have been taught by this person and I consider this person is my favorite lecturer. At first sight, you will say that this person is kind and smart; and you will also say that this person is a wonderful person. This simple person is a punctual person, because this person has almost never come late to class. One more thing, when this person teaches the students; most of the students will understand about the course. That’s why, not only me but most of my friends love this person, too.

Actually, this person is medium height and build. The height is about 165 cm and the weight is about 53 kg. This person is white-skinned and got oval-faced. This person is always seen tidy and very good-looking, too.

This person has straight shoulder-length hair with a centre parting. This person has also a short fringe and sometimes wears the hair pushed back behind the ears. This person has dark eyes and a pointed nose. She wears glasses and she has also beautiful voice, so when she is teaching the voice is very clear. She has nice lips and when she is smiling she looks beautiful.

She is a kind, a friendly and an energetic person, I think she seldom get angry because she is a good-tempered person. She is a responsible person; when she teaches us, she tries to explain us until we understand her explanation and if we are still confused; she will give us more time to share with her about our problems in her course. She always speaks quickly and makes me feel amazed. She is a hardworking and an intelligent person.

She loves to wear smart-clothes and high-heeled shoes. She also likes to wear earrings and watch. That’s why; I think she collects some kind of earrings and watches. Everyday, she uses simple make-up and sometimes she wears accessories on her hair. She also wears bracelet and ring.

One day, I met her at Ambarukmo Plaza in one of factory outlets and she was looking at some dresses. She was very excited with the dresses so that she didn’t realize that we’re in the same factory outlet. I think she loves walking and shopping.

She is my favorite lecturer, and I think most of you also idolize her. Now, would you like to guess my favorite lecturer?...^_^

Describing Place

I think this is a comfortable small place, but not exactly. There are some buildings surround the place. The buildings look like the old buildings and there are some paintings on their walls. It is about 13.5 square meters and there are also some benches and trees. This is a simple place and we can use it to refresh our mind.

The old buildings that surround the garden are original and they have never been renovated. On the walls of the old buildings, there are some paintings that make the place more beautiful. I forgot what kind of the painting, but I guess they are like scenery paintings. There are many kinds of colors and picture there, so it makes them more interesting.

In the garden, there are some benches, some tress, and a fish pond. Let me tell you about their description.
I forgot to count how many benches there, but I guess there are about seven benches, and some of them are red. They are rectangular benches, the length is about 1 m, the width is about 30 cm, and the high is about 75 cm. I think they are comfortable.
The other benches are light black and it is longer and bigger than the red benches.

How about the fish pond? It is a small area of still water and it has been artificially made for fish. Unfortunately, there isn’t fish there. Actually, the oval fish pond should make the place is more beautiful, but it can’t make it better because there is only turbid water there.

However, there isn’t any kind of flowers there only some tress, like a banyan tree and two clumps of palm trees. It is s big banyan trees and I am sure you know what banyan tree is. Some people consider that banyan tree is a sacred tree and it is usually in a grave. It doesn’t have leaf and almost all of the parts of the banyan tree are roots. It is big and high tree but I am confused to describe its color.

Two clumps of palm tree make the place is more comfortable. The green palm tree is a small tree, the high is about 1 meter and it has wide leaves. It is usually used when some people celebrate Palm Sunday.

Sometimes, when we sit down in the bench, we can feel the breeze and the sound from the rubbing of one leaf of palm tree against another or one roof of banyan tree against another. It is cool and fresh but sometimes it makes us suddenly frightened and sometimes makes us sleepy.

I think this place is used to make the environment more beautiful, but it is seldom to be visited by students and it doesn’t matter. A few people use this place to refresh their mind, to read novel or something else, to do their assignments, to forget their problems, etc. I suggest you that you visit the place.

Ok. Now, it is for you to guess it…^_^

What is my favorite thing?

It is very easy to answer the question, and the answer is my purse. It was a gift when I was in junior high school. I have been using it for 4-5 years. It is still in a good condition because my mother said that if the purse was dirty I should wash and take care of it. I always put it in a clean and safe place. In my opinion, a purse shouldn’t be expensive, but we should emphasize the functions. I love it very much than the other things and it is one of my special things.

What does my purse look like? It looks like a rectangular, the length is about 18 cm and the width is about 16 cm and I can fold it. The yellow purse has lot of parts and one of them has a zipper. I usually use it to save the coins so that the coins don’t fall down. If we save the coins too much, the zipper can broke.

Another part usually to save the cash and sometimes, I just put a little money to help me to be economical. Another part usually to put many kinds of cards, such as membership cards, residency cards, identity cards, driver’s license, etc. The other part usually to put many kinds of photos and there are also a small picture on the purse.
